There is a crisis in our midst. Thousands of dogs are being killed daily - even purebreds like Basset Hounds - because shelters do not have the space for them. We do our best to rescue as many as we can, but we rely on foster homes to make that happen. WE NEED FOSTER HOMES!  Please consider fostering, even if just for a few days. We pay for medical care and we'll provide food if you need it. It won't cost you a thing, except a little bit of your time and an open heart. Don't let another dog die alone in a shelter.

A successful foster home depends on both the selection of the right basset for your household, an understanding of the basset's needs and psychology, and knowledge about how hound care. So that we may assist you with this selection, please answer the following questions as completely as possible.

The Rescue often accepts bassets that have been strays. Therefore we do not know their backgrounds. For this reason, and to make sure our foster homes and their fosters remain safe, we do not allow families with children six (6) years of age or younger to foster.
